U Wunna Maung Lwin, Union Minister for Foreign Affairs attends meeting of Working Committee on cooperation with UN Agencies, International Organizations under Central Committee for Rakhine State’s Peace, Stability and Development

The meeting of the Working Committee on Cooperation with the United Nations Agencies and International Organizations (1/2021) under the Central Committee for the Rakhine State’s Peace, Stability and Development was held at the Ayeyawady Hall, Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) yesterday.
During the meeting, Union Minister U Wunna Maung Lwin, in the capacity of Chairman of the Working Committee on the cooperation with the UN Agencies and the International Organizations, underscored that cooperation with the international organizations should be in compliance with the needs of national interests, on-the- ground situation and the government’s policy. He also underlined that the tasks of the Working Committee encompas not only humanitarian assistance but also poverty reduction and development. Accordingly, the implementation should focus on development of the Rakhine State as a whole. He also highlighted that cooperation with the UN agencies and international organizations should lead to tangible results. Moreover, he stressed that monitoring and evaluation along with the cooperation will be more effective. More importantly, he emphasized the importance of disseminating reliable and credible information on the development of the Rakhine State.
Furthermore, the Deputy Ministers and the members of the Rakhine State Administration Council, the Committee members discussed the ongoing implementation and the areas for further cooperation including health, education, ongoing projects in the Rakhine State.
The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Secretary of the Working Committee also discussed the views relating to the future plan for the effective implementation of the tasks of the Working Committee while the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Information, Co-Secretary of the Working Committee deliberated about the important role of disseminating the credible information. —MNA
