Union Chief Justice U Htun Htun Oo attended the 9th Meeting of the Council of ASEAN Chief Justices, which was organized by the Supreme Court of the Republic of Indonesia through video conferencing yesterday morning at 8 am from the Supreme Court of the Union, Nay Pyi Taw.
At the opening ceremony of the 9th CACJ Meeting, The Hon. Muhammad Syarifuddin, Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of the Republic of Indonesia, as the host, made his welcome speech. Then, Union Chief Justice U Htun Htun Oo, together with the Chief Justices of ASEAN and the Heads of Delegate attended the Meeting, delivered speeches respectively. ASEAN Secretary-General Mr Lim Jock Hoi also attended and delivered his speech at the ceremony.
In the subsequent sessions of the Meeting, the Union Chief Justice, together with the Chief Justices and Heads of Delegate, took part in the discussions on the reports submitted by the Working Group for ASEAN Judiciaries Portal (AJP), Facilitating Service of Civil Processes within ASEAN, Case Management and Court Technology, Judicial Education and Training, Cross-Border Disputes Involving Children, ASEAN + Meetings, Study Group on Future Work of CACJ. In addition, the Union Chief Justice also presented the updated measures taken by the Myanmar Judiciary on Covid-19 Effects and Solutions since the 8th CACJ Meeting held in the previous year. And then, all the members of the CACJ attended the Meeting approved to issue the Jakarta Declaration. Also present at the Meeting together with Union Chief Justice U Htun Htun Oo were the Justices of the Supreme Court of the Union, U Myo Maung, U Kyi Thein, U Khin Maung Gyi, U Tin Hone and Daw Khin May Yee and officials concerned from the Supreme Court of the Union assigned at the Working Groups of the CACJ, as the observers. —MNA
