Union Health Minister receives delegations led by IFRC Regional Director for Asia Pacific, MRCS President

The IFRC Regional Director for Asia Pacific and the MRCS President call on Union Minister Dr Thet Khaing Win yesterday.

Union Minister for Health Dr Thet Khaing Win met delegations led by Regional Director for Asia Pacific Mr Alexander James Matheou of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC), IFRC Head of Delegation Ms Nadia Christine Khoury and President Dr Myo Nyunt of Myanmar Red Cross Society (MRCS) at the ministry yesterday.
Attendees openly discussed matters related to providing humanitarian aid in Myanmar in collaboration with the IFRC and MRCS, including providing aid to the people and households affected by natural disasters without discrimination and giving humanitarian aid in conflict areas as per the principles of humanitarian aid without jeopardizing the country’s interests, the participation of representatives from the MRCS in the workshops and executive meetings of the World Red Cross Societies to be held in the region, assisting in improving the capacity of the MRCS.
The meeting was attended by the Deputy Minister, the Director-General (Union Minister’s Office), the Director-General (Public Health Department), the Director-General (Medical Services Department), the MRCS Vice-President, and other responsible personnel. — MNA/CT
