Union Minister U Maung Maung Ohn meets the staff of the Media Development Department yesterday.

Union Minister for Information U Maung Maung Ohn met the staff of the Media Development Department yesterday.
During the meeting, the Union minister said the newcomers of the new department will have to serve the key duties. The department is formed with outstanding staff from departments and enterprises under the ministry. There will be three divisions under the department — Media Development Division, the Local and Foreign Cooperation Division and Administration and Financing Division.
The duties of the Media Development Department are to support the activities of the Myanmar Press Council in maintaining journalists to keep in line with media ethics, draft the plans to develop Myanmar’s media sector and work with the organizations, ensure access to information for citizens while carrying out the media development programmes, arrange for the participation of international media organizations representing the country and its people and cooperate with relevant organizations under the existing law for the survival and development of private media outlets. — MNA/KTZH
