Union Minister U Aung Naing Oo joins the online second-day meeting of the 27th ASEAN Economic Ministers’ Retreat Meeting yesterday.

Union Minister for Investment and Foreign Economic Relations U Aung Naing Oo attended the second day of the 27th ASEAN Economic Ministers’ Retreat Meeting via video conference which was held on 3 March 2021.

In the Meeting, the Ministers exchanged their views on the implementation status of ASEAN Economic Community (AEC) related activities of the ASEAN Comprehensive Recovery Framework (ACRF), expansion of the list of essential goods from foods and agriculture sectors annexed to the MoU on Non-Tariff Measures under the Hanoi Plan of Action , to strengthen ASEAN business more integrated into the Global Value Chains and the status of the domestic process for the entry into force of Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) Agreement.

Union Minister informed Myanmar’s support for the establishment of the support unit of ACRF to monitor and evaluate the ACRF implementation and he also highlighted the important of sectorial cooperation for the success of the framework. Moreover, he confirmed that Myanmar will try to complete the domestic process for the entry into force of Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) Agreement as early as possible.

The Meeting was chaired by Dato Dr Amin Liew Abdullah, Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and Minister of Finance and Economy of Brunei Darussalam and attended by ASEAN Economic Ministers, Senior Economic Officials (SEOM) and representatives from ASEAN Countries, the ASEAN Secretary – General and representatives from ASEAN Secretariat.—MNA
