Union Minister U Ko Ko clarifies the speech of the State Administration Council Chairman to the staff yesterday.

Union Minister for Religious Affairs U Ko Ko further clarified to the staff of the Ministry the speech delivered by the Chairman of the State Administration Council to the public on 8 February, yesterday morning via Zoom Meeting.

The ceremony was attended by the Permanent Secretary, Directors-General, Rectors, Deputy Permanent Secretaries, Deputy Directors-General, Deputy Rectors and officials from respective districts, states and regions.

The Union Minister said the Tatmadaw has always been concerned about the people with the motto of ‘People are the Father as well as People are the Mother”. It is an institution that stands firmly for the role of the national political leadership of the country and respects the provisions of the 2008 State Constitution.

The Tatmadaw has steadily and peacefully transformed into the “multiparty democracy” desired by the people, and the State held elections in 2010, 2012, 2015 and 2020, including by-elections and a series of disputes erupted after the 2020 election.

The Union Minister said although political parties repeatedly asked a free and fair election to the Union Election Commission since before the election, the Union Election Commission did not take any action and the Tatmadaw was asked for help.

He added the Tatmadaw called on the UEC, the parliament and the president to resolve the voter list, in accordance with the provisions of the 2008 Constitution but the responsible persons failed to fulfil their responsibilities, and the country has to fulfil its responsibilities in accordance with the 2008 Constitution in order to maintain a genuine and disciplined democracy.

He clarified in detail that five roadmaps had been announced and the work is being carried out in accordance with these five goals.

Afterwards, the Union Minister urged his staff to explain the details of the speech delivered by the Chairman of the State Administration Council and the five roadmaps to their staff and to strive for the nine objectives. —MNA
