Resumption of its tourism service for tourists and domestic visitors at the Wanat Elephant Camp.

Wanat Elephant Camp on the way to the Yeywa Dam between Mandalay and PyinOoLwin has resumed its tourism service for tourists and domestic visitors starting from 27 April 2022. The camp attracts the visitors with the natural scenic beauty of the mountains and the superb facilities, said U Toe Aung, assistant manager of Wanat and Deedoke elephant camps under Myanma Timber Enterprise.
The COVID-19 consequences shut down the camps temporarily. As the COVID cases have dropped and the camp has been prepped for the visitors to enjoy the natural scenery with the best facility and services, officials concerned called for ease of tourism restrictions at the camp, and the regional government gave the green light to them. The elephant ride is available between 7-11 am and 4-6 pm, according to the COVID-19 rules and regulations.
“We request the permit from the regional government to reopen the camp. The COVID preventive measures are also prepared for the visitors. The visitors can do photographing and bathe at the elephant bathing place from 6-7 am. There is a total of eight elephants at the camp, with three males and five females. The visitors can also feed the elephants. I like to cordially invite the visitors for elephant ride and relaxation at the camp”, U Toe Aung elaborated.
Despite the closure of the camp, elephant lovers donated the feedthrough digital payment. It costs K50,000 for the elephants’ feast. The visitors can observe the natural scenery by elephant ride. The entrance fee is set at K1,000 per local visitor. A short trip is estimated at K3,000, while the elephant ride for long-distance costs K5,000. — Maung Aye Chan/GNLM
