Yangon conducts 15 earthquake preparedness drills in 12 townships

Twelve townships in Yangon Region have conducted earthquake preparedness drills for 15 times, according to the Ministry of Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement.
The training courses were conducted in collaboration with governmental departments and social organizations as one of the main activities to prepare for an earthquake. The exercise was conducted at schools, and residential apartments in the townships, and the participants practised the fastest ways to escape from buildings, towers, poles and trees that may collapse in the event of an earthquake and to transport the victims to the safest place as soon as possible.
During the drill, they also carried out awareness-raising activities to make the public understand matters to be taken immediately in the event of an earthquake and knowledge about the earthquake.
The Ministry of Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement also makes the necessary equipment and transport vehicles ready to transport victims after an earthquake, as well as it has been coordinated with relevant governmental departments and humanitarian organizations in advance. — TWA/GNLM
