Minister of Yangon Region Development Affairs Mayor U Bo Htay and officials inspected the storage of 100,000-gallon RC Ground Tank in front of the City Hall on Maha Bandoola Road in Kyauktada Township and the ongoing construction of Yangon Mayor Maha Thingyan Central Pavalion yesterday morning.
Firstly, the mayor and party inspected the 100,000-gallon RC Ground Tank and called on officials to store more water as reserved water ensuring other usages of sufficient water during the summer period.
For the successful holding of the Maha Thingyan Water Festival in Yangon in 1383 ME, the mayor stressed that both the entertainment pandal and the water-playing pandal should be constructed firmly and the decoration should feature Myanmar’s traditional culture while inspecting the construction of the Yangon Mayor Maha Thingyan Central Pandal.
Although the Myanmar Traditional Thingyan Festival could not have been held for two years to curb the spread of COVID-19, the plan is now underway to make Yangonites have fun and recreation following Myanmar tradition and culture in the coming Myanmar New Year.
The celebration will include Yein (group) dance competitions, ethnic cultural dance competitions, music concerts by film stars and musicians and performances by theatrical artistes in addition to the Walking Thingyan. — MNA
