Yangon Region hits the highest record of COVID-19 infection in 1st week of September

In the first week of September, the highest number of cluster infections occurred in Yangon Region among the domestic cases of COVID-19, according to a statement from the Ministry of Health.
According to the list of new patients confirmed by daily laboratory tests, the Yangon Region has the highest number of domestic transmissions and there are more cases of domestic infections than people who come from abroad, said Yangon Region COVID-19 Control and Emergency Response Committee Chairman Yangon Region Chief Minister U Soe Thein on 6 September.
A total of 64 patients from Yangon Region out of 84 suspicious patients were confirmed for COVID-19 on 1 and 2 September, 70 out of 90 patients on 2 and 3 September, 53 out of 70 suspicious patients on 3 and 4 September, 72 out of 95 patients on 4 and 5 September, 116 patients out of 146 on 5 and 6 September, 105 patients out of 223 on 6 and 7 September, 97 patients out of 187 on 7 and 8 September, and 88 patients from Yangon Region out of 191 tests were confirmed for COVID-19.
The Covid-19 Control and Emergency Response Committee stressed the need to facilitate hand-washing basins and hand gel at shopping centres, factories, workshops, schools, offices, and departments, taking body temperature measurements, and urging the people to wear masks at YBS Bus terminals, airports, and ship ports with random inspections with the test kit for COVID-19 in public area.—TWA/GNLM
