Yangon Stock Exchange marks 7th anniversary celebration

The 7th anniversary of Yangon Stock Exchange took place on 25 March at Parkroyal Yangon Hotel in Yangon.
Yangon Region Chief Minister U Soe Thein, Yangon Command Commander Maj-Gen Nyunt Win Swe, Chairman of Supervisory Commission for Securities Exchange Deputy Minister for Planning and Finance U Maung Maung Win and officials related to the securities exchange attended the event.
At the ceremony, the deputy minister said that the Yangon Stock Exchange, established as a joint venture between the Myanma Economic Bank, Japan’s Daiwa Research Group and the Japan Stock Exchange Group, launched its operations on 9 December 2015. It has been 7 years since FMI, the first listed company, started receiving and trading shares on 25 March 2016, he added.
The government lists the relaxation of Corporate Income Tax for companies on the Yangon Stock Exchange is enacted every year when the Union Tax Law is promulgated yearly for contributing to competitiveness of these listed companies in the market.
He continued that the listed companies need to properly conduct their business in accordance with existing laws, and on the other hand, they need to adhere to good corporate governance systems and transparent disclosure systems.
Managing Director of Yangon Stock Exchange U Win Naing Oo, UMFCCI President U Aye Win, and Chairman of the Myanmar Certified Public Accountants Association U Wan Tin delivered speeches.
