Yangon Water Dept to irrigate 17,000+ summer paddy acres

The Yangon Region Irrigation and Water Utilization Management Department (Water Resource) has prepared to supply water for over 17,000 acres of summer paddy in Yangon Region in the financial year 2024-25.
The department successfully irrigated 15,492 acres of summer paddy through river water pumps last year. The paddy fields will be expanded to 17,595 acres this year.
The fields are located in Taikkyi, Hmawby, Hlegu, and Htantabin townships, and water is sourced from the Hline, Kokkowa, and Ngamoeyeik rivers. Additionally, extended paddy fields have been established in Thanlyin, Mingaladon, and Hlegu districts, as well as Mingaladon, Htantabin, and Taikkyi townships for this year. — TWA/NT
