Yar Maung Bridge on Yangon-Sittway Road opened marking Diamond Jubilee Union Day

The opening ceremony of the Yar Maung Bridge on the Yangon-Sittway Road in Minbya Township of Rakhine State was organized yesterday to mark Diamond Jubilee Union Day.
The event was attended by State Administration Council Members Admiral Tin Aung San, Mahn Nyein Maung, Daw Aye Nu Sein, U Moung Har, Union Construction Minister U Shwe Lay, Rakhine State Chief Minister Dr Aung Kyaw Min, Maj-Gen Htin Latt Oo, Commander of the Western Command and relevant officials.
In his opening speech, SAC member Admiral Tin Aung San said officials are pleased as they constructed and opened the 1,283.3 feet long Steel Box Girder Type Yar Maung Bridge as a landmark of Rakhine State unlike the designs of other bridges. Then, SAC member Daw Aye Nu Sein remarked and Union Minister U Shwe Lay briefed the bridge construction.
Afterwards, Rakhine State Chief Minister Dr Aung Kyaw Min explained the regional development programmes and a resident expressed words of thanks.
An official of the Ministry of Construction gave a gemstone painting to SAC member Admiral Tin Aung San as a present marking the opening of the Yar Maung Bridge.
The SAC members and one local cut the ribbon to inaugurate the bridge and pressed the button to open the signboard. Officials presented cash awards to the Rakhine dance troupe and Rakhine drum group.
The new Yar Maung Bridge was constructed over the Laymyo River in Minbya Township by the Special Bridge Task Force (7) of the Bridge Department. It is 1,283.3 feet long and cost K12 billion. Upon completion, it can easily access from Yangon-Sittway to Minbya, MraukU, Kyauktaw, and from Ponnagyun to Sittway, Yathedaung, Buthidaung and Maungtaw townships. Moreover, the products can be exported easily through Maungtaw to Bangladesh. The trade flows will be more streamlined as Pauktaw and Myebon townships can be easily reached via Minbya. It can also develop the Rakhine State, including economy, health and education status.—MNA
