YR Child Labour Elimination Project to proceed with 8 new working committees

According to the Yangon Region government’s coordination meeting, the child labour elimination project will be conducted by forming eight working committees.
“The development of children plays a key role in creating the significant image of a nation, and it is such a precious resource. The child labourers and youths in poor countries do not have a chance for learning and are becoming child labourers,” said the Yangon Region chief minister, who is also patron of the Yangon Region Child Labour Elimination Committee.
He also added that the Child Labour Elimination Project in the Yangon Region needed to be implemented with collective effort, including the Ministry of Labour, NGOs, civil society organizations and INGOs for a better image of the country.
The eight committees include a data collecting working committee, an education and capacity building working committee, an education and vocational working committee, a legal affair working committee, a working committee on elimination and remedial for forced child labour who face the worst form, a job opportunity working committee, a working committee on assessment and fundraising and financial working committee. Then, Yangon Region Child Labour Elimination Committee Chairman Minister for Ethnic Affairs U Saw Jacob Htoo reported on forming eight committees.
