In Yangon Region Public Transport Committee (YRTC)’s awarding ceremony for 2023 YBS outstanding drivers, the role model driver award was given to 44, and the responsible driver award to 54.
The ceremony was held at 10 am on 25 January at YRTC head office in Yangon.
“We selected award-winners based on these facts – those who have no record of traffic accidents and no record of violating traffic rules, and responsible driver award-winners should be those who returned property that passengers forgot on the bus. Role model driver means a person who provides good services to passengers and has no record of violating traffic rules,” said YRTC joint secretary U Lyan Cin Mang.
The selection depended on the number of buses that different companies run.
“Depending on the number of buses run by different companies, we chose six drivers if there are more than 500 buses, five if there are more than 400, four if there are 300, three if there are more than 200, two if there are more than 100 and one if the number of buses is below 100,” he said.
Moreover, YBS companies that served the public transport service and departmental officials and experts who assisted the passenger transport sector in 2023 were also presented certificates of honour. — MT/ZS/ED
