2023 Inter-State/Region Sepak Takraw Championship opens

An opening ceremony of the 2023 Inter-State/Region Sepak Takraw Championship was held at the Wunna Theikdi Stadium C in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday, joined by State Administration Council members.
During the event, Union Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs U Min Thein Zan who is also a chairperson of the Myanmar Olympic Committee said that athletes who will be competing in this competition should demonstrate their abilities and qualities to the best of their abilities and compete with the spirit of sportsmanship for the success of the state and regional teams they represent.
Next, he opened the competition by encouraging them to strive to become the country’s proud sportsmen who will be able to strengthen the Myanmar national team. After that, athletes took the oaths of sports.
The State Administration Council members, the Union minister and officials cordially met the athletes and watched the men’s double matches of the Nay Pyi Taw Council team versus the Taninthayi team and the Magway Region team versus the Mandalay Region team and the women’s double matches of the Magway Region team versus the Mandalay Region team respectively.
The tourney is held to raise the level of sports and bring out the next generation of athletes to represent the country.
The 2023 Inter-State/Region Sepak Takraw Championship is being held from 22 to 24 November at Wunna Theikdi Stadium C in Nay Pyi Taw, with a total of 262 athletes from 14 male teams and 12 female teams competing.
