The 29th National Monsoon Forum is in progress.

The opening ceremony of the 29th National Monsoon Forum 2022, Department of Meteorology and Hydrology (DMH), was held in Multi-Hazard Early Warning Centre yesterday. Director-General Dr Kyaw Moe Oo of the Department of Meteorology and Hydrology delivered the opening remark.
Departmental representatives in disaster management and other related departments, including participants from the Department of Meteorology and Hydrology, regional and state offices of the Department of Meteorology and Hydrology with the virtual system totalling about 100 participants attended the forum.
The workshop focused on reviewing the 2022 Monsoon season, presenting and discussing the seasonal outlook of weather forecast and water level forecast for the 2022-2023 winter season, condition of agri-meteorology, condition of La Nina during the winter season, discussing sectorial lessons learned during the Monsoon Season based on historical data and observed conditions and detailed discussions on sectorial preparedness using the forecasts for the 2022-2023 winter season.
The monsoon forum has been held twice annually on a regular basis starting in 2007 and the current forum is the 29th of the forum. —MNA
