Illegal timbers, motorbike parts, mobile phone accessories and vehicles confiscated

SUPERVISED by the Customs Department, an on-duty team conducted inspections on 23 November.
Officials confiscated K72,660,000 worth of mobile phone accessories that were not matched in the Import Declaration (ID) from a container at the Airport Warehouse of Yangon International Airport. The action was taken under Customs Procedures.
Similarly, a patrol on-duty team of the Yepu Permanent Checkpoint under the management of the Shan State Anti-Illegal Trade Task Force nabbed a total of 1.04 tonnes of illegal timbers worth K38,040,000 from a vehicle (estimated value of K20 million) on the side of Lashio-Muse Road and the action was taken under the Forest Law.
In addition, a total of 0.900 tonne of illegal timbers worth K63,000 was captured near Kinpunchaung village in Kyaikto township. The action was taken under the Forest Law.
On 24 November, a total of 5.1546 tonnes of illegal timbers worth K213,171 was confiscated in Tatkon township of Ottara District. The action was taken under the Forest Law.
A team led by the Myanmar Police Force under the supervision of the Sagaing Region Anti-Illegal Trade Task Force conducted inspections and captured an unregistered three-wheel motorbike worth K700,000 in Shwebo township. The action was taken under the Export and Import Law.
In addition, on 25 November, the Kawkareik (Tadakyoe) combined checkpoint confiscated K1.2 million worth of motorbike parts without official documents from a vehicle heading from Myawady to Yangon. The action was taken under Customs Procedures.
A total of 1.7842 tonnes of illegal teak worth K731,252 was captured in Toungoo and Thayawady districts and the action was taken under the Forest Law.
Therefore, nine arrests (approximately K133,607,423) were made on three consecutive days from 23 to 25 November, according to the Illegal Trade Eradication Steering Committee. — MNA
