In January 2024, a total of 433 traffic accidents occurred across the country, according to the statistics from the Ministry of Transport and Communications.
The mentioned number of traffic accidents left 236 people dead and 564 injured.Among 433 accidents, 78 traffic accidents happened in Yangon Region as the largest number, killing 44 people. Similarly, 18 traffic accidents occurred on the Yangon-Mandalay expressway, leaving 15 dead and 37 injured as per the statistics.
In the correspondent period of 2023, there were 425 traffic accidents occurring 230 deaths and 564 injuries, slightly less than that of this years’ traffic accidents, according to the statistics. TWA/TKO/TTA
