U Htin Aung Naing, director of the Directorate of Hotels and Tourism (Shan State), expressed that over 800,000 local visitors from all over the country enjoyed Taunggyi Tazaungdine Festival 2023 in Shan State.
The traditional Taunggyi Tazaungdine Festival was scheduled from 21 November to 27 November, and the festival took place at Awayya hot-air balloon compound in Taunggyi. The Taunggyi Tazaungdine Festival is famous among local and foreign visitors and is the most visited festival of the year.
There were over 800,000 local visitors from various regions of the country this year, and the hot-air balloon festival was more like an entertainment show than a competition. Shan State is the most visited place in Myanmar, especially from the southern part of the Shan state, Taunggyi, Kalaw, Pintaya, and Inlay. Fifteen 25-feet-height hot-air balloons, 23 twenty-two-feet-height hot-air balloons and 25 eighteen-feet-height Seinnapan hot-air balloons competed in the Taunggyi Tazaungdine hot-air balloons competition. There are over 400 hotels, motels, and guesthouses, and 337 are currently running. The southern part of the Shan State has visitors throughout the year. — ASH/TRKM
