COVID-19 vaccination programme begins for elderly persons in Yangon

THE COVID-19 vaccination programme was launched for over 65-year-old living in Dagon, Botahatuag and Pabedan townships of Yangon Region yesterday.
“We conducted vaccination programmes as planned for those over 65 years old. We will conduct the programme in 34 townships of Yangon, and we launch in Dagon, Pabedan and Botahtaung townships. The process will keep going as planned,” said Dr Tun Myint, Deputy Director-General for Yangon Region Public Health and Medical Services.
The people are vaccinated against COVID-19 at B.E.H.S (1) Dagon, B.E.H.S (1) Pabedan and B.E.H.S (1) Botahtaung. The medical officials also arrange emergency ambulances and Oxygen cylinders if the elderly have some health problems.
According to the data of region Public Health and Medical Services, there are more than 5.9 million people over the age of 18 and 380,000 elderly over the age of 65.
A total of 25,000 health workers and volunteers were vaccinated on 27 January.— Min Thit (MNA)(Translated by KTZH)
