MoHS discusses resumption of central-level hospital operations in Yangon, Nay Pyi Taw

Union Minister Dr Thet Khine Win chairs the coordination meeting to resume central-level hospital operations, yesterday.

The Ministry of Health and Sports held the coordination meeting on resuming hospital operations in central-level hospitals in Yangon and Nay Pyi Taw yesterday morning in Nay Pyi Taw. At the meeting, Union Minister for Health and Sports Dr Thet Khine Win said most people have to rely on public hospitals. Medical superintendents and medical personnel play an essential role in serving people with necessary healthcare services. He said it is needed to maintain the medical professionals’ dignity. The first and second wave of COVID-19 has been overcome despite the difficulties.
He added the announcement requesting medical professionals to return to work for the people. He said they could contact the Ministry’s call centre, phone number and email address if they have trouble returning to their work.
He said plans are underway to purchase and install advanced equipment required for treatment and diagnosis in public hospitals during the current financial year, adding that preparations must be made to ensure that there is no shortage of necessary medicines and no oversupply/overdose of medicines.
The Union Minister called on making continuous efforts to prevent the third wave of COVID-19 by the excellent coverage of COVID-19 vaccination in respective regions and states and said arrangements are being made to get the staff’s necessary allowances, including dinner allowance for the night duty staffs in the public hospitals.
He also urged the subject doctors, including the medical superintendents, to guide their staff in the right direction so that they do not go astray and hold meetings for the resumption of hospital operations and work together in unison public healthcare services.
Afterwards, Director-General U Sein Win of the Union Minister Office discussed matters related to financial and staffing. Acting Director-General of the Department of Medical services discussed hospital management and hospital equipment maintenance to resume the hospital operations.
The meeting was also attended by officials from the Department of Medical Services and Medical Superintendents of the central-level hospitals from Yangon and Nay Pyi Taw. —MNA
