Women’s football event of Malaysia set to hold this month

A premier football event for women in Malaysia named Tun Sharifah Rodziah Cup (PTSR) will be held this month with the zonal competition, said ASEAN football authorities.
With the zonal level, the tourney includes five zones: North, East, Central, Sabah and Sarawak zones.
“The top eight teams from the five zones level will then take part in the national championship directly organized by the FA of Malaysia (FAM)”, football authorities stated.
With the supervision of the Football Association of Malaysia, the premier women’s football event was established in 1976 as a women’s football competition competed by the teams around Malaysia.
The tournament was held consistently until 2004 and was postponed for 11 years. Then in 2015, the women’s event comes back to action with the 28th edition.
Starting from 2018, the tournament was participated by eight teams in total, and officials set group format systematically.
Melaka team secured a champion position in the 2019 version of the competition while Kedah won the 2018 edition of the women’s tourney. —GNLM
