Panmawady bridge connecting Myaungmya-Pathein to be upgraded

The Panmawady Bridge, the main connecting bridge between Myaungmya and Pathein in Ayeyawady Region, will be upgraded to Steel Box Girder bridge to withstand a load capacity of 60 tonnes.
The bridge used to be able to carry up to 35 tonnes before, but only 16 tonnes can pass through the bridge now. It is reported that ferry boats are arranged to make it easy for the travellers during the upgrading works.
It is expected to complete the construction by 31 May 2022, and the project will be implemented by the Bridge Special Task Force (15) with K6,600 million. — Maung Maung Myint (IPRD)/GNLM
