Myanmar attends 39th ASEAN senior official meeting on energy and associated meetings

The first day of the 39th ASEAN Senior Officials Meeting on Energy (SOME) and Associated Meetings chaired by Brunei Darussalam was held yesterday through video conferencing.
Senior Official on Energy (SOE) leader of Myanmar, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Electricity and Energy U Than Zaw and officials participated in the meeting.
The meeting discussed matters pertaining to the energy sector development for the development of the ASEAN region, cooperation among the ASEAN member countries in using clean energy, reducing carbon emissions, saving energy, increasing renewable energy consumption and adapting energy consumption standards, implementation plans for the ASEAN Plan of Actions for Energy Cooperation-APAEC Phase II (2021-2025), and future action plans for ASEAN Energy Cooperation Sub-sectors.
The meeting was also attended by senior energy officials and delegation leaders from Australia, China, India, Japan, South Korea, New Zealand, Russia and the United States of America.
The SOME and Associated Meetings will be held from 14 to 17 June. The future cooperation among the ASEAN member countries, ASEAN+3 countries and East Asian countries will be discussed and approved at the meeting. —MNA
