Three Myanmar athletes qualify for Tokyo Olympics

Three Myanmar athletes have qualified for the XXXII Tokyo Olympic Games to be held in Tokyo, Japan from 23 July to 8 August.
The three athletes are Thet Htar Thuzar from the Badminton category, Ye Tun Naung from the Shooting category and Chu Myat Noe Wai from the Judo category respectively.
Badminton star Thet Htar Thuzar has won the Olympic qualifiers with the top 50 Women’s Single World position.
Ye Tun Naung, has qualified for the shooting event of the 2016 Rio Olympics and is eligible to compete again this year as a Wild Card priority.
Judo athlete Ma Chu Myat Noe Wai has won a bronze medal in the previous SEA Games in the Philippines and was selected to compete in the Tokyo Olympics with a wild card.
Deputy Minister for Ministry of Health and Sports U Myo Hlaing will leave for Japan on 22 July for the Olympic tourney, according to the Department of Sports and Physical Education. —GNLM
