Union Information Minister inspects Sarpay Beikman, calls for developing critical thinking of young people

The MoI Union Minister views around the Sarpay Beikman Library in Yangon yesterday.

Union Minister for Information U Maung Maung Ohn inspected the bookstore and library of Sarpay Beikman under the Printing and Publishing Department in Yangon yesterday.
The Union Minister also met the Sarpay Beikman’s editorial team. During the meeting, he said the Ministry of Information plays a key role in running the state media, and the media sector should not be carried out in a traditional way but in a modern and active way in accordance with the trend for news nationwide coverage.
He also highlighted the five-point roadmap and nine objectives of the Provisional Government, the emergence of a genuine and disciplined democratic nation and duties of the media sector in these operations.
He also discussed the instructions of the Prime Minister to make efforts for the public to be able to read and develop the literature including the cooperation work for the youths to achieve the right knowledge and proper success.
He then said the Ministry of Sports and Youth Affairs was established for the development of youths, and in the activities carried out by Sarpay Beikman, the procedures based on the development of youths must be changed. They should provide self-improvement books or literature that can provide critical thinking skills or vocational guidance books for the youths.
Moreover, it should adopt the digital library system and improve public services. — MNA
