MoNREC Union Minister inspects limestone mining, cement plant, conservation works in Mandalay Region

Union Minister for Natural Resources and Environmental Conservation U Khin Maung Yi conducted a ground survey to limestone mining of Shwe Taung Mining Limited in Pyin Nyaung of Thazi Township in Mandalay region and Apache cement factory to ensure environmental conservation yesterday.
During the visit, the Union Minister said the factory has the capacity to produce 5,500 tonnes of cement per day and is full of production capacity as the needed limestone can be explored near the factory area. It should emphasize the occupational safety and conservation works in limestone production and operation of the cement plant. If so, it will be a responsible investment and achieve sustainable development. It needs to arrange for better ESG – Environment, Social and Governance.
The Union Minister also highlighted the need to install a regular monitoring system and another system for controlling the emission from cement production, operate in line with the EIA – Environmental Impact Assessment and adopt Clean Technology in the long run.
The factory in-charges briefed the operations of limestone production, cement factory and work plans being carried out through EIA.
The Union Minister then inspected the Ashe Yepaungsone forest reserve of the Forest Department in Thazi Township of Mandalay Region in the same afternoon. — MNA
