Roads linking Mon, Taninthayi upgraded for smoother transportation

The main roads named Phayagyi-Mawlamyine-Dawei-Myeik-Bokpyin-Kawthoung, which is linking Taninthayi Region and Mon State has been upgraded by continuous efforts of the Highways Department, Ministry of Construction, officials said.
For decades, only speed boats were relied on this voyage. The road is now accessible in a short period, officials added.
The road construction work is also underway so as not to have blind spots on the road. Local people in the Mon State have now easily access to Dawei, Myeik and Kawthoung townships by using the roads.
On the other hand, the improvement of roads can give better results for socio-economic life of the people in the education, health, and business sectors, officials continued. — Kayan Soe Myint/GNLM
