COVID-19 inoculation to over 8,000 students begins in Myeik

COVID-19 vaccination to students at the age of 12 and above in Myeik Township, Taninthayi Region started yesterday. The Government has implemented the vaccination against COVID-19 for students across the country to provide them with access to education.
A total of 8,311 middle/high school students from 78 schools in Myeik Township will receive their first doses of the Sinovac COVID-19 vaccine within five days, according to U Kyaw Shein, Township Education Officer.
Before the COVID-19 immunization, parents of the students were informed about the vaccination, and only with the consent of the parents, students were inoculated. A total of 8 medical teams will inject 24 vaccination sites.
Yesterday, students from the No (1), (2), (3), (4) Basic Education High Schools in the township received the vaccines alongside their parents/guardians, and teachers, charities, and administration bodies provided necessary assistance.
Officials supervised the vaccination, and Chairman of the Myeik District Administration Council U Nyan Zaw, Head of the Regional Public Health Department Dr Aye Thein and officials encouraged the immunization process.—Khine Htoo (Myeik IRPD)/GNLM
