Region & State Cup Golf Tournament commemorates 75th Anniversary Union Day

The opening ceremony of the Region and State Golf Tournament in commemoration of the 75th Anniversary Union Day was held at the City Golf Course (Ngwe Thawdar) in Yangon yesterday morning.
Yangon Region Chief Minister U Soe Thein, Commander of Yangon Command Maj-Gen Nyunt Win Swe, Yangon Mayor U Bo Htay and Yangon Region Cabinet Ministers, officials, Director-General of the Department of Sports and Physical Education U Tun Myint Oo, President of Myanmar Golf Federation U Ko Ko Aye, invitees and athletes from participating teams attended the ceremony.
At the opening ceremony, the athletes first took their positions at the designated places and recited the four sports vows.
After that, Yangon Region Chief Minister U Soe Thein, Major General Nyunt Win Swe, Commander of Yangon Command and officials cordially greeted the athlete.
Then, Yangon Region Chief Minister U Soe Thein, Commander of Yangon Command Maj-Gen Nyunt Win Swe, Director-General of the Department of Sports and Physical Education U Tun Myint Oo and President of the Myanmar Golf Federation U Ko Ko Aye teed off the tournament.
The 18-hole competition started on the first round with men’s and women’s singles competitions.
A total of 108 male and 21 female golfers from 15 teams from 15 regions and states participated in the tournament. The tourney will run until 11 February. — Ko Nyi Lay/GNLM
