Under the supervision of the Anti-Illegal Trade Steering Committee, effective action is being taken to prevent illegal trades under the law.
On 12 February, the Bago Region Customs Department and a combined team conducted a surprise check between Waw Township and Shwe Thanlwin Tollgate and seized K1,021,000 worth of foodstuffs and action is taken under the Customs Law.
Similarly, on 13 February, the Bago Region Forest Department and its combined teams inspected 6.7340 tonnes of illegal teak (estimated at K1,010,100) in forest reserves in Toungoo and Pyay districts and action is taken under the Forest Law.
In addition, a combined inspection team under the management of the Sagaing Region Anti-Illegal Trade Task Force conducted a surprise inspection and seized one unregistered motor cycle (estimated at K300,000) in Leshi Township and action is taken under the Export/Import Law.
Therefore, a total of three arrests were made on 12 and 13 February and their estimated values are K2,331,100, according to the Anti-Illegal Trade Steering Committee. —MNA
