MoI Union Minister meets Myanmar Press Council members

Union Minister for Information U Maung Maung Ohn received Myanmar Press Council Chairman U Ohn Maung (Myinmu-Maung Naing Moe) and council members to discuss collaborative news media operations yesterday.
The Union minister highlighted the development programmes of media, accurate information to public and changing patterns of news consumption for technical growth such as New Media style.
He also talked about the spread of false information as propaganda to persuade the youths to participate in conducting destructive elements.
He then appreciated the efforts of the Myanmar Press Council for holding talks at schools and stressed the need to continue their doings for the youths and students to understand the information and media related matters.
Afterwards, the council chairman and members reported on their respective sectors. They donated K2.5 million worth of 417 “media of record” books to the Union minister and received certificates of honour in return.
The Union minister also handed over the video CD and publication related to the Diamond Jubilee Union Day ceremony to the Myanmar Press Council Chairman and members. — MNA
