NATIONAL NEWS

The second day of the Puppet Festival of Lancang-Mekong, a Mekong-Lancang cooperation project, was held yesterday morning by the virtual system in Mandalay.
At the festival, Lancang-Mekong countries: Cambodia, China, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand, and Vietnam demonstrated their puppetries, followed by a friendly discussion on traditional puppetry in the region.
In the afternoon, respective traditional puppet shows were performed, and Myanmar performed the Thu-Nge-Taw dance, tripartite dual dance and U Shwe Yoe-Daw Moe dance. The closing ceremony was successfully held with a Mekong-Lancang tribute song featuring traditional puppet dances from six member countries.
Due to the Lancang-Mekong Puppet Festival, puppeteers could cooperate with admiration to exchange new ideas, which has been very helpful for identifying and enhancing traditional heritage. — MNA
