Chaungtha beach in Pathein District of Ayeyawady Region is bustling with visitors on the morning of the Maha Thingyan eve day, the New Year holiday.
During the pre-Maha Thingyan period, the number of visitors increases at Chaungtha day by day, with vehicles up to 400 daily, according to the checkpoint officials.
“In previous days, we hired much, but it wasn’t regularly. We rent a little more when more visitors arrive.
“This morning, as the number of swimmers is increased, I rent the rubber tube much. Thingyan holiday is a public holiday. I think people come from across Myanmar.
“It’s more crowded since this morning,” said a rubber tube rental operator at the beach. Officials of the Beach Disciplinary Enforcement Committee, led by Head of Township Administration Body U Thiha Aung, are conducting field inspections to ensure that vendors on the beach follow disciplines in order to make visitors enjoy and relax at Chaungtha Beach. — Kyaw Kyaw (IPRD)/GNLM
