Illegal teak, utensils and vehicles seized this week

Supervised by the Anti-Illegal Trade Steering Committee, effective action is being taken to prevent illicit trades under the law.
A joint inspection team led by the Bago Region Forest Department conducted an inspection under the management of the Anti-Illegal Trade Task Force in Toungoo, Pyay and Thayawady districts and 47.8792 tonnes of hardwood and other timbers (estimated at K7,721,660) were seized.
On 19 April, 1.7540 tonnes of illegal teak were also seized in forest reserves of Toungoo and Pyay districts (approximately K251,600) and action was taken under the Forest Law.
Similarly, an investigation team led by the Myanmar Police conducted an investigation under the management of the Anti-Illegal Trade Task Force in the Sagaing Region on 18 April.
Next, one unregistered Toyota Landcruiser car (estimated at K3 million) in Shwebo Township was seized, and action was taken under the Import and Export Law.
On 19 April, a joint inspection team conducted a search operation under the management of the Customs Department at the Mayanchaung Permanent Checkpoint.
A motorcycle battery (estimated at K2,400,000) was seized from a passenger van with no official documents, and action was taken under the Customs Law.
Similarly, joint inspections led by the Anti-Illegal Trade Committee conducted inspections under the management of the Anti-Illegal Trade Task Force in Muse District, Shan State.
Afterwards, undocumented consumer goods (estimated at K192,404,531) and five 12-wheeler trucks carrying these items (estimated at K110,000,000) and (approximately K302,404,531 in total) were arrested near the Thein Than Kyi Highway Terminal and Shwethamin Golf Course in Muse.
As a result, 18 arrests (approximately K315,777,791) were made on 18 and 19 April, according to the Anti-Illegal Trade Steering Committee. —MNA
