Regarding the delay in import permits, Maj-Gen Zaw Min Tun, SAC Information Team Leader, said the imports of essential goods for the State are allowed, at the 16th press conference of the SAC Information Team.
Importations via sea, air, and land are allowed and licences are issued immediately after the approval from the Foreign Exchange Oversight Committee.
“We are systematically monitoring the use of the foreign currency where it is needed by the State to prevent it from being used unnecessarily,” he said.
“Imports of goods such as luxury goods that are not essential for the country are being restricted. We are working to facilitate trade and commerce with the money allowed by the Central Bank,” he added. In addition, the import of individual car permits is restricted, and priority is given to the import of industrial raw materials, raw food, and agricultural and livestock equipment.—TWA/GNLM
