Illegal timbers, foodstuffs, consumer goods, construction tools, vehicle parts and vehicles seized

SUPERVISED by the Anti-Illegal Trade Steering Committee, effective action is being taken to prevent illegal trade under the law.
Under the instructions of the Chairman of the Anti-Illicit Trade Task Force, a combined inspection team led by the Forest Department made inspections on 22 and 23 June, according to information.
They seized a total of 4.896 tonnes of illegal timbers worth K576,926 in Mindon, Kanma and Sedoktara townships. The action was prosecuted under the Forest Law.
In addition, an on-duty team carried out inspections under the management of the Customs Department. They confiscated K22.5 million worth of construction tools without any declaration in the Import Declaration (ID) on 22 June.
Afterwards, K777,000 worth of motorbike parts and tapes that showed no Import Declaration (ID) on 23 June.
The actions were taken under the Customs Procedures.
Similarly, the on-duty team made inspections at the 16th-Mile checkpoint and captured K4,909,900 worth of consumer goods, toys and playing-card boxes from two vehicles (approximately K24 million) heading from Muse to Mandalay on 23 June.
In addition, at the Kawkareik (Tadakyoe) combined checkpoint confiscated K3.15 million car tyres that exceeded the number of the Import Declaration (ID) from a truck on 22 June and a total of K3 million worth of vermicelli packs and K1.5 million worth of car tyres that exceeded the number of the Import Declaration (ID) from two trucks on 23 June.
And also, K1.11 million worth of suitcases that showed no declaration in the Import Declaration (ID) from a truck were captured at the Kawkareik (Tadakyoe) combined checkpoint.
The actions were taken under the Customs Procedures.
A combined team made inspections under the supervision of the Bago Region Anti-Illegal Trade Task Force near the Phayagyi Tollgate on 23 June.
They captured K12 million worth of sandals with lotus flower brands that showed no declaration in the Import Declaration (ID) from a Nissan 12-wheel truck (approximately K12 million) heading from Myawady to Yangon. The action was taken under the Customs Procedures.
In addition, a team led by the Forest Department confiscated a total of 2.45 tonnes of illegal teak logs worth K808,500 in the Khapaung forest reserve of Toungoo district on 25 June and, the action was taken under the Forest Law.
Therefore, 18 arrests estimated at K96,332,326 were made on four consecutive days from 22 to 25 June, according to the Anti-Illegal Trade Steering Committee. — MNA
