Yangon United beat Myawady FC 2-0 in MNL opener

Yangon United celebrated a 2-0 win over Myawady United in the opening match of the Myanmar National League 2022 season at the Thuwunna Stadium in Yangon yesterday.
Yangon United, the most successful team in the MNL competition, got a good result at the beginning of the first season and got a full three points.
Myawady, that was allowed to return to MNL, tried to get a good result in the opening match but lost.
Yangon came out with youth players as the team has not recruited any foreign players and some strong players have left the team.
David Htan and Thiha Htet Aung, who returned to the team, were used from the beginning of the match and Kyaw Min Oo was used as a substitute in the second half.
Yangon team was able to put pressure from the beginning of the match and young striker La Min Htwe scored the opening goal in the 13th minute.
After conceding the goal, the Myawaddy team improved and made threats.
However, only Yangon scored another goal and new player Htet Phyo Wai, who joined the team at the beginning of this season, scored the second goal in the 37th minute.
In the second half, the Myawaddy team increased their attacking power to get equalizers but Yangon goalkeeper Phone Thitsa Min was able to defend.
Yangon also had at least three more chances to score in the second half, but 2-0 was enough for Yangon United to get three points.
Hanthawady United will take on Ayeyarwady United at Thuwunna Stadium at 3 pm on 26 July. —Ko Nyi Lay
