NATIONAL NEWS

Routes and charging stations for electric buses will be built in Yangon, according to U Bo Htay, Chairman of the Yangon City Development Committee at the meeting of the Steering Committee for the National Development of Electric Vehicles and Related Industries.
Charging stations should be available in wide places in Yangon for public transport, and the meeting also presented that it would be appropriate if private companies implement the charging stations.
Ways to construct charging stations for electric vehicles in public places, such as shopping malls, bus stops, and car parking were researched and presented to the steering committee.
In addition, the YCDC is working to analyse ways to build charging stations by the battery swap system under the cooperation of relevant departments and development partner associations, and ways to develop special routes for electric buses and car parking and draw up safety precautions for drivers and passengers.
The world economy is affected due to the impact of global warming and air pollution.
Therefore, infrastructures must be built for the operation and use of electric vehicles to reduce the use of fossil fuels, the deputy minister of the Ministry of Construction was quoted as saying. — TWA/GNLM
