Myanmar to use Russian Mir card for Russia-Myanmar direct payments in Nov

Myanmar plans to use the Russian Mir card for the direct payments between the Russian rouble and Myanmar kyat, said Maj-Gen Zaw Min Tun, SAC Information Leader at the 20th press conference.
He stated that authorities are working to use the Russian Mir card as a payment system for business and trade activities in Russia-Myanmar direct payments. Russia’s Mir card will be connected to start using before the third Inter-Governmental Russia-Myanmar Joint Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation meeting that will be held in upcoming November.
SAC Information Team Leader Maj-Gen Zaw Min Tun also declared in the press conference that if direct payments are made between Russia and Myanmar, banks in Myanmar have to open accounts in Russian banks, and a memorandum of understanding-MOU will be signed between the two central banks. — TWA/GNLM
