YCTA (temporary) to select ECs to form official organization

The selection for the Yangon City Taxi Association’s executive members will be held at the office of the YCTA (temporary) in Dagon Myothit (North) Township from 8 am to 12 pm on 3 December, it is learnt.
The YCTA (temporary) was formed on 12 January 2022 to provide better service to commuters and improve the management of taxis in Yangon region, according to the Yangon Region Transport Committee (YRTC).
Joint Secretary U Lyan Ciint Mang of the YRTC said that the YCTA (temporary) is a vehicle owners association and will be an official organization once they get the permission to form an association and report it back to the regional government.
The YRTC has invited city taxi owners to vote in the executive election. City taxi owners can register at the YCTA and apply for membership. It is reported that they can be elected as an executive in the Yangon City Taxi Association. There are more than 65,000 city taxis with Yangon licence plates and over 20,000 city taxis with regional licence plates in Yangon, according to the statistics released by YRTC in early 2022. — TWA/GNLM
