The 21st Myanmar Traditional Medicine Practitioners Conference was opened in conjunction with the Myanmar Traditional Medicine Symposium at the Myanmar International Convention Centre-II in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday morning.
Members of the State Administration Council Daw Aye Nu Sein and U Moung Har, Union Minister for Health Dr Thet Khaing Win, Director-General Dr Su Su Dwe of the Traditional Medicine Department and traditional medicine practitioner U Than Nyunt formally unveiled the conference and the symposium.
Patron of the Leading Organizing Committee for the conference and symposium SAC Vice Chairman Deputy Prime Minister Vice-Senior General Soe Win pressed the button to open the conference and the symposium.
Then, the video message sent by SAC Chairman Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing to the conference and the symposium was presented.

Speaking on the occasion, the Vice-Senior General said the existence of Myanmar traditional medicine as a national medical education in successive eras, and the preservation of the traditional medicine in the compilation of medical treatises on palm leaves and folded papers in Tagaung, Sri Ksetra, Bagan, Pinya, Inwa and Konbaung eras.
The Vice-Senior General continued that the Myanmar traditional medicine conference and symposium have been held for the 21st time since 2000. Traditional medicine research is conducted annually and its findings are presented at the paper-reading session of the conference and the symposium for improvement of the medical science. The Vice-Senior General urged new-generation traditional medicine practitioners to systematically conduct research for further development of the science. Manufacturing of traditional medicine contributes to the development of MSME businesses as well as supports an increase in the GDP of the State.
Next, a video clip was presented on the endeavours of the Traditional Medicine Department. The Vice-Senior General and party posed for documentary photos together with traditional medicine practitioners, traditional medicine producers, delegates and officials.
After the ceremony, the Vice-Senior General viewed round the booths of traditional medicines displayed by relevant regions and states.
The conference and the symposium followed under the leadership of Union Minister for Health Dr Thet Khaing Win.
In the evening, the Vice-Senior General hosted a dinner in honour of the delegates to the conference and the staff of the Fine Arts Department presented traditional dances and songs. After the dinner, the Vice-Senior General presented gifts to the staff of the Fine Arts Department who entertained performances.— MNA
