SAC Chair PM Senior General Min Aung Hlaing inspects Myanma Shipyard

State Administration Council Chairman Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, accompanied by Joint Secretary Lt-Gen Ye Win Oo, Union ministers, the Yangon Region chief minister, military officers of the office of the Commander-in-Chief, the commander of Yangon Command, the Yangon mayor and relevant officials, inspected Myanma Shipyard under the Ministry of Transport and Communications in Kamayut Township in Yangon Region on 21 December.
First, Union Minister for Transport and Communications Admiral Tin Aung San and Managing Director of Myanma Shipyard U Kyaw Naing Aye reported to the Senior General on the brief history of the shipyard, activities, ongoing work plans, local and international shipbuilding and maintenance of vessels.
In his response to the presentation, the Senior General said that the shipyard is over 60 years old with great tradition and it initiated a new history of water transport. It should build the required vessels for water transport and safety along the long coastline and waters of the country. The water transport system is a potential transportation system. The international standard vessels can be built at Myanma Shipyard and it should encourage reviving the water transport system. It should also conduct the building and maintenance of coastal ships, fishing ships and speed boats. Water transport should be improved by building vessels that can transport goods to neighbouring countries.
It also needs to construct cruise ships and arrange to produce human resources to carry out such shipbuilding operations. With more than 50 years of experience in building and maintenance of vessels, it should restart a new chapter of Myanma Shipyard successfully.
Then, the Senior General and party inspected the shipyard and the dock with a capacity of 12,000 tonnes.
The Senior General also provided cash to the staff of the shipyard. — MNA/KTZH
