Chairman of the State Administration Council Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing said the Mawlamyine airport would be moved to a new location during his inspection tour of Mawlamyine airport after the opening ceremony of a new building for the Mon State High Court on 20 December.
Plans are underway for the Mawlamyine airport to move to a new place in order to extend the flights and to expand the runway since the current location is close to downtown and university areas, it is learnt.
The new location is projected to be a standard airport to handle landings for all types of flights from domestic airlines to enhance the development of Mon State and Kayin State. —TWA/MKKS
