Over 600 Myanmar migrants detained in Thailand arrive in Kawthoung

Over Six hundred Myanmar migrants who are detained at the Immigration Detention Centre (IDC) in Ranong, Thailand, arrived back to Kawthoung township, Myanmar, from Ranong, Thailand, by motorboats on 2 February.
Although the Myanmar Embassy to Thailand stated on 30 January that detained migrants would be repatriated in three batches starting on 2 February after officials led by Myanmar Embassy Labour Attaché U Tin Aung and IDC officials negotiated with leaders of migrant workers who were detained at IDC, all detained Myanmar nationals were taken back on 2 February.
Kawthoung locals welcomed migrants, and health workers conducted health checks, took their body temperatures, and tested them for COVID-19. — TWA/MKKS
