Chargers for BEVs arrive from China

Chargers for battery electric vehicles (BEVs) have arrived from China, said the Steering Committee on National-level Development of Electric Vehicles and Related Industries.
Five sets of 60 kW electric vehicle (EV) chargers and two sets of 200 kW EV chargers were imported from China and these chargers will be installed at charging stations at No (3) Tollgate on the Yangon-Mandalay Expressway, the Phyu bus station and Nay Pyi Taw Junction bus station.
Forty electric vehicles, which are China-made BYD E2 models, were imported and 10 electric vehicles will be used as taxis on a trial run at Yangon International Airport and another 10 at the Nay Pyi Taw Thabyaygon Market.
BEVs can be introduced in the public transport system if adequate electricity can be produced so that fuel consumption can be greatly reduced, stressed State Administration Council Chairman Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing at the meeting with chairpersons and members of industrial zones in Yangon Region.
In addition, State Administration Council Chairman Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing expressed that imported battery electric vehicles are allowed with reduced taxation and more and more battery charging stations will be built for EVs on public roads and in major cities. —TWA/MKKS
