Out of 24,012 applications for the 2023 matriculation examination, a total of 22,070 students took the exam in Mandalay Region on 8 March, accounting for 91.9 per cent.
There are 97 exam centers in the region. The nationwide matriculation exam commenced at 9 a.m. yesterday at the respective exam centers.
The teachers checked the ID cards of the students at the school’s entrance made sure that everything was in line with the COVID-19 prevention measures.
U San Aung, deputy director-general of the Mandalay Region Education Office said “This Grade-11 exam is a chance for the students for admission to the universities with the old curriculum. The persons with disabilities are also found taking the exam. The exam will be held in line with the rules and regulations of the Department of Myanmar Examinations. The exam centres are opened at Mandalay’s Central Prison and the General Hospital. I was so delighted to see the students taking the exam passionately and vigorously.
Myanmar will adopt a new curriculum till Grade 12. That being so, this test is a special chance for the students to have direct admission to universities. Hopefully, they will pass the exams with great results as this is a great opportunity for them. I hereby would like to request the parents to pay attention to it. I pray for them to do well in exams.”
The security forces, health care personnel, fire brigade members and the officials of the General Administration Department in the respective townships are ensuring the safety and security measures for the students in the school proximity.
Daw Chaw Su Lwin, in charge of No. 16 BEHS exam centre said, “a total of 300 students took the exam in 11 rooms on the first day and 28 were absent. Preparations for the safety of the students have been undertaken. We have improved the school security system. Also, we follow the COVID-19 health guidelines. This is a good opportunity for the students. So, I like to encourage the students to make strenuous efforts in the exams.”
