Effective penalty for YBS vehicles charging higher fares during Thingyan

YBS vehicles that charge higher fares during Thingyan will be punished effectively, according to the Yangon Region Public Transport Committee (YRTC).
During the Thingyan festival of 2022, there were a total of 11 complaints lodged with relevant authorities regarding YBS vehicles charging exorbitant fares from passengers. If the vehicle is a CNG one, the bus line will be closed, if it is a diesel vehicle, the business licence will be revoked. YRTC announced that it will take the same action this year as well.
During Thingyan, 16 bus companies will operate in Yangon. On the 13th (Thingyan Aa Kyo Day) 1,430 vehicles by 67 bus lines, on the 14th (Thingyan Aa Kya Day) 1,290 vehicles by 63 bus lines, on the 15th (Thingyan Aa Kyat Day) 1,288 vehicles by 63 bus lines, on 16th (Thingyan Aa Tat Day) 1,288 vehicles by 63 bus lines will run respectively. On new year’s day, all YBS lines will operate as usual.
