DMC holds meeting on clarification of its work operation

The meeting of the Disaster Management Centre (DMC) in progress yesterday, chaired by SAC Member Deputy Prime Minister MoHA Union Minister Lt-Gen Soe Htut.

The meeting on the clarification of the work operation by the Disaster Management Centre (DMC) was held at the centre yesterday.
First, National Disaster Management Committee (NDMC) Vice-Chair 1 State Administration Council Member Deputy Prime Minister Union Minister for Home Affairs Lt-Gen Soe Htut said that, according to the weather forecast of Cyclone Mocha, it has already known about the regions where the storm is likely to hit closely and so it is in a certain situation to jointly conduct the measures for the period of emergency. The DMC should compile the data regarding the preparations in the townships of Rakhine and Chin states and complete evacuation processes and make the rehabilitation operations as quickly as possible with the minimum of losses.
Then, NDMC Vice-Chair 2 Union Minister Dr Thet Thet Khine reported on emergency response, distribution of 10,000 tonnes of reserve rice and cooperation work with region/state governments.
The officials of the working committee also discussed the current situation of Cyclone Mocha, its path, strength, security measures in townships of Rakhine and Chin states that the storm is likely to hit, emergency communication systems, manpower, vehicles and machines for emergency recuse work, Cyclone Shelter and evacuation of people and materials, installation of satellite phones, international cooperation, mobile water treatment transportation to Rakhine State, Rapid Response Team (RRT) for emergency healthcare services, distribution of medicines, water purification tablets, bailey bridge, relief items, shelters and other matters.
Then, the representative of the Office of the Commander-in-Chief (Navy), a member of DMC, explained the situation after high tide.
Finally, NDMC Vice-Chair 1 and Vice-Chair 2 made proper instructions. — MNA/KTZH
